Eden Camp Joins the Continuum Family

We’re excited to announce that Eden Camp Modern History Museum, one of Yorkshire’s most popular attractions, has officially joined Continuum Attractions.

Located just outside Malton in North Yorkshire, Eden Camp is set within the original buildings of a former prisoner of war camp. Each year, around 125,000 guests step back in time to experience the sights, sounds and even smells of wartime Britain. With its powerful storytelling and authentic setting, it has become a much-loved destination for schools, families, veterans and history enthusiasts.

A Family Legacy

Eden Camp was founded in 1985 when Stan Johnson bought the disused camp with the vision of creating the world’s first modern history museum. He opened the doors to visitors two years later, and since then millions have walked through the huts to learn about ‘The People’s War’.

After Stan’s passing in 2015, his children Howard Johnson and Paula Peace took over the running of the attraction. Together, they have lovingly preserved and expanded the museum while staying true to their father’s mission.

Howard said: “After more than 40 years as a family-run museum, we feel incredibly proud of what Eden Camp has become. The stories told within these huts are as relevant today as they were when the museum first opened. We know that under Continuum’s stewardship, Eden Camp will continue to thrive, develop and safeguard its heritage for generations to come.”

Paula added: “Eden Camp has always been about keeping history alive in a way that is engaging, meaningful and accessible to all. We are delighted that Continuum Attractions will now take Eden Camp forward. Their expertise will ensure the museum continues to thrive, while keeping the spirit of Eden Camp at the heart of everything it does.”

Looking Ahead

For Continuum, Eden Camp is a perfect fit. Andrew Pawson, CEO of Continuum, said: “I remember visiting Eden Camp many years ago and being struck by the depth and authenticity of its storytelling. It has always been about people – from the veterans who helped create it, to the schoolchildren who continue to learn from it – and we are committed to protecting that legacy while also securing its future.”

Eden Camp now joins Continuum’s award-winning portfolio of attractions.

We are proud to carry Eden Camp into its next chapter – protecting its heritage, supporting its team and ensuring it continues to inspire generations to come.
