The Experience

Set within the former Drumnadrochit Hotel, the tour allows guests to delve into the legends and myths of the loch, deep below the surface of its waters to uncover hidden secrets.

We bring Oxford’s hidden history to life! Climb the Saxon tower, descend deep into the castle’s crypt and explore the austere confines of the 18^th-century Debtors’ Tower and Prison D-Wing.

Led by one of our costumed tour guides, the colourful past of Oxford Castle’s 1,000 years of history will be revealed to you. Expect tales of murder, romance, betrayal, escape and execution…

Oxford Castle & Prison has introduced a new Murder Mystery package with other themed dining events to complement its live summer Shakespeare in the Castleyard sessions.

Groups can discover everything from the Saxon foundations of Oxford, through to the establishment of its education centres and the building of its Georgian prison building – vacated by its last prisoners as recently as 1996.
